As teenagers Taint formed in 1994s South Wales. Since then they played many national shows with bands like Acrimony, Cathedral, Clutch, Earth Crisis, Iron Monkey and Spirit Caravan, and released one mini-album in 2000 plus a split with their hometown brethren Black Eye Riot. July 2004 saw the recording of Taint"s first full-length album titled "The Ruin of Nova Roma" for Rise Above. Their sound has been described as a mixture of Black Sabbath and Slint with Neurosish and post-rock/metal amalgams. The album is a 57-minute (10 songs) journey of dynamics, groove, emotion and colossal riffs, mixed by Alex Newport (Fudge Tunnel, Melvins).
