What muscles are used when riding electric boards and regula

Skateboarding or electric skateboarding requires your concentration to keep your balance on the board. When skateboarding, you need to coordinate the muscles of your body. Skateboarding will be a good workout if you do a lot of board activities like doing tricks or carving a lot.

To create dexterity and flexibility for your legs as well as train your body to get used to skateboarding, you can do weight training. Now let's take a look at the list of the muscle groups that you use most often when skateboarding.

Your Quadriceps

Without a doubt! When skateboarding, you'll have to use your legs the most. The quadriceps consist of four muscle bundles: Rectus Femoris, Vastus Intermedius, Vastus Medialis, and Vastus Lateralis. These muscle groups are responsible for extending the knee or flexing the hip joint, which is necessary for performing skateboarding tricks like Ollie's.

There are also a lot of moves that require knee extension and hip flexion.

Gastrocnemius

It's still the muscle that's on your leg but is the lower leg. This section contains a muscle called gastrocnemius, usually called the calves. The gastrocnemius helps to flex your ankle and points your toes downward. It also helps you shift your body weight and move the skateboard in the direction you want.

Gluteus Maximus

The gluteus maximus extends from your hips to hamstrings. This is a large muscle that keeps you balanced as you transition from crouching to standing upright. Skaters can reach their maximum speed when the gluteus maximus is activated and the hip is hyperextended. gluteus maximus is a large muscle in your body, so it does affect you a lot when you move on your board.

Hamstring

If the quadriceps muscles help you extend your knee, the hamstring muscles will help flex it. The hamstring consists of 4 muscles biceps femoris, semitendinosus, and 2 semimembranosus. These 4 muscles located at the back of the thigh help flex your knee and even bring your calves toward the back of your thigh. When skateboarding, there will be times when you have to bend your knee to lower your center of gravity to keep your balance, this is when your hamstring works the most.

Top muscles

Moving up to the top of your body, you'll need to use muscles from your arms, shoulders, and back to perform complex movements. There are tricks where you need to use your hands to grab your board, this is when the upper body muscles are used the most.

Is Electric Skateboarding a Good Workout?

Electric skateboards are a good way to exercise but only if you carve a lot or do a lot of tricks for e-skateboards. If you just cruise around on a straight road at a medium speed, then you do burn very few calories. The main muscles you use are from your legs.

You can still get toned but it will take a little longer when compared to regular skateboarding. For more details on how many calories you burn during your ride on an electric skateboard, read here: https://eskatebuddy.com/does-electric-skateboarding-burn-calories.html

What should you do to have the best workout on your electric skateboard?

Ride your board as a regular skateboard

Electric skateboards are heavier than regular skateboards, so it will take you more effort to hold the board. The muscles from there also have to work harder. If you want a good workout, turn off your battery and push it. Your leg will feel super sore after that ride.

Carve more

When carving, your legs will have to move more. muscles will have to work harder. You will also feel muscle pain in the thighs and hips because these are the two muscle groups that work the most when you carve.

Ride at higher speed

When riding fast, everything must always be ready to turn or tilt, the muscles are constantly in motion. Your brain also has to work harder to focus. That thinking also burns more calories.

Should I excersise with my skateboard or electric board?

The answer is pretty obvious. Most people will choose skateboarding as a way to workout every day as burn a lot calories. However, electric boards can do more than that. You can ride with a battery on, or if you want to burn more calories, you can ride without the power. Isn’t it great? You can do two things on one board.

You can ride fast when you are late for work or you can push when you want to burn calories. However, you can’t do a lot of tricks on an electric board as it is quite heavy which then makes it harder for you to flip or kick tail.

Can I loose weight when skateboarding?

Yes, definitely. If you can burn calories, you can loose weight. Remember, if you choose electric skateboarding, you should expect it will take a bit longer.
