Elder - Reflections of a floating world - Junio (Stoner)

Junto con All Them Witches lo mejor del stoner para mi este año. Y eso que ninguno de los dos son stoner puro. A lo mejor ahí radica su gracia.

Pues yo diría que sí, porque Elder en sus inicios partían del sludge y el stoner, pero en los últimos discos han tirado hacia un rollo con más personalidad y pienso que eso es lo que es hace destacar por encima del resto de bandas de su estilo.

Le he pegado una escucha al disco por que me salió en relacionados por youtube y recordaba que Rear había hablado de el en su fb, así que me decidí a escucharlo anoche y aún sin estar centrado en el totalmente, me estuvo molando un montón.

A mi es una de las cosas que me pasan cuando los escucho. Al ser las canciones tan largas hay ratos en los que desconecto de lo que está pasando, y cuando vuelvo se han sacado otro riff increíble o una parte alucinante y es como "que puñetas ha pasado aquí?"

La verdad que mola que teniendo tan poquitas canciones tengan tanta chicha como estar dándoles caña sin parar durante semanas sin cansarte lo más mínimo.

Que grupazo más increíble. Ayer en el Kristonfest me faltó que tocasen Lore (la canción) para salir literalmente levitando de la sala. Antes de irme arrasé en el merch y me llevé los tres últimos discos y una camiseta.

Además, según salía ya para irme a casa, ví que en el autobús enfrente de la sala estaban los dos guitarras de Monster Magnet haciéndose fotos con la peña y apartado a un lado estaba Nick Disalvo. Me acerqué a saludarle y hablé un par de minutillos con él. Tiene pinta de buen tipo. Me dijo que seguro que volverán pronto por aquí.

Buenas noticias! Se vienen un nuevo EP y en otoño entran a grabar nuevo disco

Well, we can't keep this in the bag forever, and since this is already floating around the internet we had might as well reveal the cover art for our upcoming EP "The Gold & Silver Sessions" by the fantastic Max Loeffler!

This EP is the first release in year one of Postwax, a subscription vinyl series by Blues Funeral Recordings. Unfortunately there were some kinks in production considering the deluxe packaging for the subscriber version, but it will be landing in mailboxes very soon. The deluxe edition has some very special features we are excited about!

For non-subscribers, the standard edition will be available at the end of June. WE WILL HAVE A LIMITED AMOUNT OF THESE ON OUR UPCOMING EUROPEAN TOUR so come out and grab one!! Of the standard edition, only ourselves, Blues Funeral Recordings and Stickman Records will have an exclusive color variant.

El batería Matt Couto deja el grupo.

Elder has always existed in a state of constant evolution - a product of our personal and creative development - and sometimes that means moving in different directions. With that being said, we’ve reached a point where founding member and drummer Matt Couto and Elder have decided to part ways.

When we began this band, none of us had any idea that it would become more than a hobby, a stoner rock band in tribute to our adolescent idols. 12 years and change later, we’ve travelled the world together, played more amazing gigs than we can count and made some music that we consider great - or at the very least a lot of fun. Matt is and will always be a brother to us; he’s made a permanent impression on our lives, and we’re thankful for all the time we’ve spent together up to now, both on and off stage. His inimitable drumming style shaped all of Elder’s work, and we’ll always be indebted to him for helping establish the band’s sound.

We’ve been relatively quiet as of late, since understandably these kind of major changes in a band necessitate a bit of reflection and reorganization. However, we’re lucky to say that we’ve not had to take too much of a break or a step back and have already found our new drummer, whom we’ll introduce shortly.

Elder 2020 - new lineup, new album!

Please meet Elder's new drummer, Georg Edert.

Georg is a friend of ours from years back - met while playing on tour in Europe - and in the past year he's been playing together with Nick and Mike to revive their old project Gold & Silver (also planning more music next year!). His drumming approach is informed by a host of styles new to the band, providing fresh and exciting impulses into our creative process while finishing work on album 5. We look forward to introducing our listeners to the new lineup at our shows in 2020!

On that note, we are happy to announce that we will be headed off to the studio next week to begin recording said album 5. Without revealing too much, it's easily the most ambitious musical journey we've ever conceived, and the writing process has been long, tedious, and ultimately rewarding. The cycle begins anew! - and we're ready to get cracking on the recording sessions.

Me puse con ellos hace poco y ando flipando. Lore y Reflections son increibles, muy buenos riffs y atmosferas lisergicas, suena a cosas, pero tienen personalidad, cosa dificil en un genero tan trillado como el stoner. Pero el ultimo ep me ha maravillado, tengo curiosidad del nuevo album, a ver porque senda tiran. Si le añaden algo de kraut/space a la formula habitual puede ser la bomba.
