MONSTER MAGNET has inked a new worldwide deal with Austria's Napalm Records. The band will enter the studio in January with producer Matt Hyde to begin recording its new album for a summer 2010 release.

Commented frontman Dave Wyndorf: "I'm really looking forward to joining the roster at Napalm Records and working with them on future endeavours." Markus Riedler, Napalm Records managing director, added, "It is an honor to cooperate with a scene icon such as Dave Wyndorf! He's very enthusiastic, full of energy and together we want to rock through the coming years! The new album will be killer and fans should make sure to check out the high-energy live show of the band! 2010 will be the year of MONSTER MAGNET!"

MONSTER MAGNET's latest CD, "4-Way Diablo", entered the German Media Control chart at position No. 81. The album, which was also produced by Hyde and featured a cover version of THE ROLLING STONES' "2,000 Light Years from Home", landed on the Swedish chart at No. 51. It sold 1,800 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

[...] En una reciente entrevista para un medio australiano, el frontman Wyndorf comentaba la posibilidad de un proyecto paralelo: "estoy escribiendo un montón de pequeñas canciones extrañas últimamente y estoy pensando en publicarlas como un proyecto al margen de Monster Magnet". Por otro lado parece que, hasta que salga un nuevo trabajo de la banda en 2010, va a haber un tour acústico con canciones de su catálogo que nunca han interpretado antes en directo y en el cual utilizarán instrumentos como el sitar, el mellotron, la percusión y la slide guitar. Según Wyndorf será "muy psicodélico y bluesy".

Los últimos años no han sido muy buenos para el líder de Monster Magnet a nivel personal: "tras años de giras sin descanso me enganché a un potente tranquilizante. (...) Estaba física y psicológicamente destrozado y juré no volver a tocar en directo. Un día me metí en mi habitación a leer un libro. Dos años y varios cientos de libros después salí de mi habitación y volví a llamar a la banda". El hecho de que se especule con su vida personal en distintos foros de Internet no parece preocupar al cantante: "Internet está hecho para cotillear".[...]

Parece que la música que suena al principio en el vídeo es nuevo material de ellos.

Fuentes y rumores: El vídeo lo he encontrado en http://foros.riff-fanzine.com/viewtopic.php?t=27584&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 (En la segunda página de dicho post un personaje dice que "Monster Magnet estarán este año de gira por Spain. Confirmado por Bob Pantella en el bolo de The Atomic Bitchwax. El disco antes del verano.", pero como no pone fuente ni nada pues vete a saber) y la fecha en la que fue colgado el vídeo fue el 07 de enero de 2010.

Después de un correcto último album, con que saquen algo del mismo nivel....BABAS.

MONSTER MAGNET recently entered the studio with producer Matt Hyde to begin recording its new album for a summer 2010 release via Austria's Napalm Records.

Speaking to Metal Injection at last week's Revolver Golden Gods Awards in downtown Los Angeles, guitarist Ed Mundell said, "We're about to finish a new record coming out in the summer. [It will have] 15 tracks and Dave [Wyndorf] is doing the vocals right now. He couldn't make it tonight 'cause he's in Van Nuys doing vocals. We're waiting for him to finish it up."

Regarding the new CD's musical direction, Mundell said, "It's more like space rock and THE STOOGES. There's no hit singles — it's all just rocking, lots of crazy effects. And Dave's singing better than ever. Lots of guitars. Four weeks of tracking guitars — nothing but guitars."

Ya se conoce el nombre del disco nuevo de Monster Magnet. El nombre será Mastermind.

Y en el siguiente enlace hay una entrevista en audio a Dave Wyndorf. Magnet songwriter and front man, Dave Wyndorf, describes "Mastermind":

"It's a big, beefy ball of demented anthems and power rock." He says with enthusiasm.

"In my world, images, information and emotions tend to intertwine. I’ll describe the smallest details of my personal life in crazy, cinematic terms. When I write, the words play out in my mind like scenes from a movie and that's the vibe I tried to capture on "Mastermind" – rapid-fire emotion. What can I say? I'm having a weird life and I have to write it down that way."

"In the end though," says Dave, "Mastermind ROCKS, and that's what's most important."

Que ganas de catarlo, haber que nos ofrecen ahora Wyndorf y compañia

Este tío construye unas melodías vocales de la hostia. Y como dice DRYUSS, como le des una acústica que tiemble el mundo.

joder, ese toro sagrado ha ido evolucionando de una manera, ... aunque la verdad no me molo cuando le cortaron los cuernos, ..... yo creo que este disco promete de lo lindo y espero que revienten altavoces y demas, ........ creo que es la unica banda de los 90s de la cual puedo decir que no he dejado de comprar sus discos, ............. yesssssss

El último me pareció un poco ladrillo,......, pero tengo esperanza en que saquen un buen buen disco
