Machine Head - Bloodstone & Diamonds (2014)

Me resulta llamativo ver las opiniones tan tibias que provoca Locust por aquí. Los gustos son como los culos, está claro, a mí me pasa con muchos otros discos/grupos, pero es que Locust me parece enorme. A mí me gusta más que The Blackening (abro paraguas ). Cuidado, que no estoy diciendo que sea mejor, sólamente que a mí me llega más.

Es que para mi el Locust fue un poco meh .....

digno es! Es un buen disco, aunque mucho menos inspirado que el anterior... y tiene un puntito hortera en algunos momentos (especialmente la intro de la primera canción). Tampoco estaría yo muy contento con la producción... tiene algo que no me gusta.

Los temas son generalmente buenos y eso es lo justo y necesario para mantener la dignidad, pero para mí, como ya he dicho, se trató de un disco de transición, hecho más por la necesidad de publicar y girar, que por la ambición de crear algo nuevo y bueno (que sí fue el caso de The Blackening, evidentemente).

Para mi la primera del último está en el top de MH.

We already know Machine Head are hard at work writing their next record due out at some point or another this year, as well as dealing with being sued by former bassist Adam Duce. Now that new record is one sep closer to being a reality as frontman Rob Flynn has announced the band will be putting out a demo version of a new song called "Killers and Kings" along with a cover of Ignite's "Our Darkest Days" come Apr. 19, or Recor Store Day.

“I remember growing up in the thrash scene and always wanting to hear the demo version of songs. You searched them out, thankfully my buddy Jim was a big 'tape trader,' and through trading we had both Metallica demos, Exodus demos, bootlegs of songs sometimes 'years' before they came out.

I knew how to play every note of 'Pleasure Of The Flesh' by Exodus, easily 2 years before the record was out. I had Slayer‘s 'Reign In Blood' 3 months before it came out, I remember it still had the hi-hat counts starting the songs!! My friends and I would debate the merits of each, (the demo was always better, LOL!) It’s so much cooler to hear it BEFORE the album is out!

So we’re gonna do that for you. I can’t wait for you guys to hear this stuff. Then you can debate it, haha!”

I love his passion for the whole thing, as if this is some big nostalgia trip for him and a real gift to the fans (it is). Mr Flynn, thanks for being so damn caring toward your fans! There's no word on if this single will be out on just vinyl or if it'll be up for download as well. While we're on the topic of new stuff, Flynn seems super confident in the jams and it certainly sounds like the record will be done before we know it!

We been recording demos with the string section that played on “Locust,” “Quartet Rogue“, as well as multi-instrumentalist / keyboardist Rhys Fulber, and to quote Lars Ulrich (who was actually quoting Robert Trujillo), “we’re on some NEXT LEVEL shit!!!”

With that one song getting finished I could totally see where the whole record is going. It opened up right there before my eyes.

Pues Pearls Before the Swine tiene una parte suave ahí en medio que telita también

Yo solo me escucho I am Hell y Locust de este disco. Para mi, al resto, aunque tengan algunas partes chulas, les faltan fuerza y inspiración. No me dan ganas de escucharlos.

Yo ya lo dije, las 4 primeras son la polla.

Luego baja un poco, pero no tiene tanto que envidiar al Blackening (Now I Lay Thee Down & Slanderous me parecen las más flojitas de aquel).

A mi me parece un muy buen disco, pero que sorprendía menos que el Blackening evidentemente.
