Soundgarden - King Animal (13 de Noviembre)

Es una buena noticia siempre y cuando veamos al Cornell de antaño...

Cornell NO es el de antaño. Por mucho que nos pese,a todos nos puede la edad. Soundgarden puede que acaben sacando un buen disco,(si Alice in Chains pudo...) pero lleno de canciones tipo Blow Up... Pretty Noose,etc. No esperemos rollos tipo Jesuschrist Pose,Slaves & Bulldozers... A mi personalmente ya me da miedo imaginarme al Chris de ahora intentando emular al Cornell de Antaño. Triste pero cierto. Coverdale,Gillan,Halford...etc.

Creo entender lo que quiere decir. No habla de las condiciones vocales de Cornell, que está claro que no está para muchos esfuerzos (de hecho, la gran pega de la gira para mi es esa, que o alargan el tiempo entre concierto y concierto para que Cornell recupere voz o el fuelle se le acabará pronto si, por ejemplo, tocan cada dos días), sino de la actitud: si veremos al Cornell comercialoide de su etapa en solitario, o al Cornell metalero/hard rockero de la anterior etapa en Soundgarden y primer disco de Audioslave.

Para bien diría yo, mi pesadilla es que Cornelio intente emularse a si mismo en el pasado, no gracias, pasemos página.

No sé donde leí que el disco podrían tenerlo terminado a finales de este mes.

Pero a que se refieren exactamente cuando dicen que lo han terminado? que han terminado de componer o que han terminado de grabarlo?

Dice que tienen 13 temas en distintos grados de progreso y que a finales de mayo deberían tenerlos terminados (de grabar se supone).

Ya, pero es que en ningún momento han dicho que estaban en el estudio grabando (creo), de ahi mi duda...

Cameron pone fecha al fin de la grabación del disco. Entre arreglos, mezclas y demás, el disco seguramente que no esté listo hasta días antes del comienzo de la gira.

Por cierto, lo de los 13 temas supone un cambio respecto a "Superunknown" y "Down on the upside", discos que contienen 16 canciones (demasiadas para mi gusto).

Miedo me da...

Bueno, aquí ya teneis una definición clara de como va a sonar el disco:

T. Cole Rachel of Stereogum recently spoke to guitarist Kim Thayil of reunited grunge legends SOUNDGARDEN about the progress of the recording sessions for the band's first studio album since 1996's "Down On The Upside".

"We're recording," Thayil said. "We're kind of doing it in stages. We have about 14 songs in various stages of completion. Previously, we'd just block out a bunch of time and go and track everything at once, but we can't really do that right now. Matt [Cameron, drums] has commitments to PEARL JAM, Chris [Cornell, vocals] has a solo tour happening and SOUNDGARDEN is touring in July. So we do the studio thing around those other engagements, which actually is turning out to be a lot better for us. It takes the pressure off in some ways.

Regarding the musical direction of SOUNDGARDEN's new material, Thayil said, "The vibe of the songs is definitely very heavy. We've always tried to explore how to make this really heavy, aggressive music without sounding like a bunch of knuckle-dragging meatheads. I think these songs are kind of exploring that idea. Ways of emoting aggression and anger and hostility in ways that feel new. You know, we never were really chipper guys. We were never the party band, or even a particularly social band. We were always really just hard workers and a kind of musician's band. That's what we wanted to be that. We wanted to play for an audience that reminded us of ourselves back when we were young, I always liked the idea that our fans were that guy or girl who collected records and wanted to start a band of their own and play good music. I always imagined we were the band that made the party end. Like, ok guys it's time to leave now, someone just put on 'Superunknown'! I always felt like we made music that was good for driving, good for listening to really loud. Wait, does that answer your question at all? The new songs sound really heavy. I'll just say that."

Really heavy!!! ¿cuantas veces habré leido eso?

Bueno, la cosa es que esta en marcha y hay que tener confianza en ellos... y el año que viene se vienen a Europa fijo!!

hmmmm... da la impresion de que vuelven al Badmotorfinger o algo pero hasta escucharlo a saber...

Me he puesto el Badmotorfinger un poco para ver que nos puede deparar el nuevo disco, la verdad es que es un disco que no me apasiona, demasiado jebi, espero que no vayan por ahí los tiros... (aunque me temo que si).
