Now here is a real reason to get excited about the fall. Profound Lore Records have announced that they will be releasing the latest and greatest from cursed USBM enigma LEVIATHAN on November 8th. The album has been titled ‘True Traitor True Whore’ and will be the first release from the reactivated act since 2008′s ‘Massive Conspiracy Against All Life’. Much speculation was spreading throughout the underground as to whether or not we would ever see another LEVIATHAN record since Wrest (Jef Whitehead) had announced the band was finished after ‘Massive Conspiracy’ and then faced a terrible legal situation earlier this year.

For those unaware, Whitehead was arrested back in January and accused of sexual assault and battery against his then girlfriend. According to a report from the Chicago Sun-Times, Whitehead allegedly strangled the woman and sexually assaulted her with tattoo tools. Since then, questions regarding the woman’s credibility have been raised leading many to believe that Whitehead is innocent.

Whitehead’s friend and often collaborator BLAKE JUDD (NACHTMYSTIUM, TWILIGHT) was quoted in an interview with No Clean Singing as saying, “[It is] total bullshit. He didn’t do that. I saw a fight between him and that woman in my house before. It was the last confrontation they had. Drunk fucking retarded boyfriend-girlfriend fight. It was the last time they saw each other before that allegedly happened. I saw that woman beat her own head against the wall so that she would look beat up when the police showed up. He didn’t do anything to that woman. Jef Whitehead is a fucking maniac, but he is not a rapist. He is not a criminal. And the fact that the woman pressing the charges has ten different cases on file of dropping rape charges against boyfriends is going to get him scott free if he has the right lawyer. He is my brother. I have known him for eight years and he did not do that. I know that for a fact.”

From a personal perspective, I have also met Wrest on multiple occasions and I do not believe he did the things that he has been accused of. I also believe that he is one of the most important artists in the American black metal underground and I am highly anticipating ‘True Traitor True Whore’. The record was recorded with iconic Chicago metal leader Sanford Parker and we will most definitely keep you updated on everything that is announced regarding LEVIATHAN.

Y por nada menos que Profound Lore, a pesar de que este año el sello ha bajado un poco el listón, pero un poco apenas. Estupefacto me he quedado, Leviathan es posiblemente mi banda predilecta de Black Metal, así que no puedo esperar menos de este señor. Eso sí, se me hace raro verlo tan "normal":

No sé si lo que he oído de este hombre no ha sido lo mejor que tiene, pero lo poco que he escuchado fue sin pena ni gloria. ¿Que tiene recomendable?

Para mí lo mejor de este hombre es Tentacles Of Whorror, quizás sea la mejor combinación suya de Black Metal con atmósferas muy densas y tétricas, The History Of Rape lo considero uno de los mejores temas del género que he escuchado. The Tenth Sub Level Of Suicide también es otro disco memorable. Massive Conspiracy Against All Life, sin dejar de ser un gran disco, me parece que no están a la altura de los antes mencionados, y A Silhouette In Splinters es un trabajo de puro Dark Ambient muy bueno a mi gusto.

De todos modos todo eso de "recomendable" hay que cogerlo con pinzas muy pequeñas, y no porque pueda ser malo o no, sino porque no todo es del agrado de todos.

Debo decir que el Massive Conspiracy Against All Life es el que más me ha gustado.
