Two-time Grammy-winning rock band LIVING COLOUR is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a tour in support of long-awaited new album, "Shade", and a tour set to kick off September 18 at The Opera House in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
The group — vocalist Corey Glover, guitarist Vernon Reid, bassist Doug Wimbish and drummer Will Calhoun — is currently in the studio putting the finishing touches on "Shade" with producer Ron Saint Germain (U2, SONIC YOUTH, BAD BRAINS). Germain, who's mixing the record, was the engineer on LIVING COLOUR's Grammy-winning/multi-platinum-selling debut, "Vivid", which was released in 1988 and shot to No. 6 on The Billboard 200.
Due in the fall, "Shade" follows 2009's "The Chair In The Doorway" and is LIVING COLOUR's sixth studio album.
"'Shade' is the sound of a band coming to terms with its shadows and light," says Reid. "From the blue pulpit of Robert Johnson to the mean red streets of Brooklyn to the golden lure of Hollywood, 'Shade' is the next chapter of a unique American journey."
Formed by guitarist/Black Rock Coalition founder Vernon Reid in 1984, LIVING COLOUR built upon a black music tradition that extends from Chuck Berry and Little Richard to Jimi Hendrix and PARLIAMENT-FUNK. Over the course of their career, they released several critically acclaimed albums, earned a pair of Grammy Awards and an MTV Music Video Award, tore up stages everywhere from CBGBs to "Saturday Night Live" and most important of all, saw their music break through obstacles of language, distance and culture. They were perhaps the only band that could have opened for THE ROLLING STONES and played the first Lollapalooza tour.
