Slipknot - .5: The Gray Chapter

Pero AHIG me parece un disco muy infravalorado. Es más comercial y más "sencillo" si quieres, y no tiene la innovación que sí tuvo Vol.3 (ahí radica la principal diferencia, creo yo), pero me parece que tiene unos cuantos temazos importantes, y no entiendo como hasta el propio grupo lo denosta, tocando 1 o 2 temas en los conciertos y siempre los mismos.

Al nivel en el que están ahora mismo, es lo que deberían empezar a hacer.

Cuando eran una apisonadora autodestructiva, pues lo puedo llegar a entender, que no les daba para estar dos horas así. Pero a pesar de la edad, habiendo ya canciones más tranquilas en el set y sin ser la panda pasada de vueltas que eran, deberían dar una vuelta de tuerca a lo que son sus directos, ¿no?

La última vez aquí en 2009, creo que apenas pasaron de la hora y cuarto. Me pareció decepcionante de cojones para lo que valía la entrada.

En ese sentido casi todas las bandas de nu-metal parece que siempre toquen poco tiempo y uno se siente bastante estafado cada vez que los ve, la última me paso con korn, luego ves a Metallica o slayer que se toca sus casi 3 horas y te das cuenta que lo que son es unos vagos de cuidado.

Bueno, yo he visto a Deftones un par de veces, y hora y media mínima en concierto propio sí que dan.

Slipknot percussionist M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan personally still has hopes that the band’s next proper recording will wind up being a double album. He recently told MetalSucks of that:

“If I did it… don’t hold me to this, but if I had my own way — which I don’t, but I got a big say — I would do two records that come out at the same time, but there would be no more than nine songs [on each half]. And the whole album would be under an hour, if not under fifty minutes… I was fortunate enough to work with Rick Rubin on ‘Vol 3.: The Subliminal Verses,’ and he and I got into an interesting conversation about what it takes to make a phenomenal double album, and the first thing he said was [you need] about seventy-five songs to whittle it down to the best. And I never forgot that. And right now we have lot of material. A LOT…”

“…So I’m hoping we’ll get a lot of material, whittle it down the best eighteen [songs] and keep it under an hour. I don’t want to make something arty farty where it just has the liberty to move around and you get all these segues and little art pieces. Fuck that. I wanna get busy. I wanna kick you in the face and in the nuts. On album A, nine songs, then you put on album B, nine songs, and it’s all over before you can even imagine.”

“Day Of The Gusano” captures Slipknot’s historic Knotfest appearance in Mexico City on 5th December 2015. Sólo son ensayos, pero nunca he escuchado música así, lo que estamos haciendo justo ahora. Tendré 50 años cuando salga. Giraré cuando tenga 50, ¡después me llevarán a una fiesta de cumpleaños! Así que aquí estoy ahora, pienso que podría ser el último disco.

Ya empezamos como siempre...

No estaría nada mal que fueran en serio con lo del último disco. Un doble CD del carajo y fuera, prefiero que cierren su etapa por lo grande en vez de empezar a agonizar (cosa que bajo mi opinión aún no han hecho).

Supongo que de salir en 2019 lo haría a finales, no sé en donde leí que su idea era sacarlo ese año pero que ya iban un poco tarde.

Para mi ya hace bastante que empezaron... concretamente con "All Hope Is Gone". Sus dos últimos discos me parecen simplemente correctos.
