Ayer en el coche de un colega pusieron el recopilatorio Edward the great, y madre mía me pase toda la tarde, noche y la mañana de hoy escuchando Maiden y bajandome algunos discos xD es que madre mía que temazos tiene ese recopilatorio

Jajaja yo ese lo tengo original. Creo que fue de los primeros que me compré de Maiden junto al Number Of The Beast y el Dance Of Death (me pilló en la época ). Luego me he ido pillando unos cuantos más. De hecho y sin ser uno de los grupos TOP de mi vida tengo 8 discos suyos en la estantería que ya son unos cuantos

Yo si cuento todos los formatos tengo todos originales menos dos, pero en mi caso sí que son uno de los grupos de mi vida, sin duda además.

Es que Killers es más grande que la puta vida. Uno de los discos con los que empecé en ésto, para mí siempre ocupará un lugar especial

Pero de los Maiden TODO joder. Bueno, los dos últimos a mi no me motivan, la verdad, pero respeto eterno

El primero, a pesar de la mala producción, es una pasada. El Killers lo pongo por debajo pero es un discazo. Cualquier disco de la doncella en los ochenta es para quitarse el sombrero.

BRUCE DICKINSON UNDERGOES CANCER TREATMENT

Just before Christmas, Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson visited his doctor for a routine check-up. This led to tests and biopsies which revealed a small cancerous tumour at the back of his tongue. A seven week course of chemotherapy and radiology treatment was completed yesterday. As the tumour was caught in the early stages, the prognosis thankfully is extremely good. Bruce’s medical team fully expect him to make a complete recovery with the all clear envisaged by late May. It will then take a further few months for Bruce to get back to full fitness. In the meantime we would ask for your patience, understanding and respect for Bruce and his family’s privacy until we update everyone by the end of May. Bruce is doing very well considering the circumstances and the whole team are very positive.

Pues ha llegado la noticia esperada: Dickinson ha superado el cáncer, y el disco saldrá este año como estaba planeado. Eso sí, no habrá gira hasta el año que viene porque aun no tiene el cuerpo para aguantar un tour del calibre de los de Iron Maiden.

Iron Maiden tienen una discografía poco más que perfecta, es dificil elegir un disco solo..........

El primer disco y Killers son unos discazos, los cante Dianno, Dickinson o mi vecina de abajo. Por cierto, a mi la producción del homonimo me gusta. Tiene un sonido guarrillo, que junto con la voz de Dianno, tiene un toque punk ese disco.

Aunque mi favorito siempre sera el Seventh son, fue la cumbre máxima que llegaron Harris y los suyos, un disco que en su día machaque muchísimo, y aun de vez en cuando lo escucho, porque es buenísimo. Y su tipologia de tipo de medieval, me parece muy acertada. Pena que los siguientes discos de Maiden, no llegaran a tener la calidad de los discos de los 80.

Yo de todos saco algo, menos de los dos últimos que me parecen bastante coñazo.

Dickinson está ya libre del cancer.......... ahora solo queda volver a verlo en acción

The Book Of Souls - coming September 4th.

IRON MAIDEN’s eagerly awaited new studio album The Book Of Souls will be released globally on 4th September through Parlophone Records (Sanctuary Copyrights/BMG in the U.S.A.). It was recorded in Paris with their longstanding producer Kevin “Caveman” Shirley in late 2014, with the finishing touches added earlier this year. However, the band decided to delay its release so that vocalist Bruce Dickinson, who was recently given the all-clear from a tumour, would have time to recuperate sufficiently to join in the preparations for the album’s launch.

The stunning cover art was created by Mark Wilkinson who has worked with the band previously, and because this 11 track album has a total running time of 92 minutes, it is IRON MAIDEN’s first ever double studio album. There’s a broader split on the song-writing compared to previous Maiden records, with bassist and founder member Steve Harris contributing to seven of the tracks; 6 of them with Maiden’s guitarists and one sole composition. This is also the first time since 1984’s Powerslave that an IRON MAIDEN studio album also features two tracks written solely by Bruce Dickinson, one of which is the longest song Maiden has ever recorded! And also two Dickinson/Smith collaborations.

Steve comments,

“We approached this album in a different way to how we’ve recorded previously. A lot of the songs were actually written while we were there in the studio and we rehearsed and recorded them straight away while they were still fresh, and I think that immediacy really shows in the songs, they have almost a live feel to them I think. I’m very proud of The Book Of Souls, we all are, and we can’t wait for our fans to hear it, and especially to take it out on the road next year!”

Bruce continues,

“We’re really excited about The Book Of Souls and had a fantastic time creating it. We started working on the album in late summer 2014 and recorded it at Guillame Tell Studios in Paris, where we’d done the Brave New World album back in 2000 so the studio holds special memories for all of us. We were delighted to discover the same magical vibe is still alive and very much kicking there! So we immediately felt at home and the ideas just started flowing. By the time we’d finished we all agreed that each track was such an integral part of the whole body of work that if it needed to be a double album, then double its going to be!”

The Book Of Souls is the band’s 16th studio album since their eponymous debut in 1980 charted at #4 in the UK, in a career achieving sales of over 90 million albums worldwide. Their previous album, 2010’s The Final Frontier was Maiden’s most successful chart-wise to date, reaching Number One in 28 countries and was their highest chart debut in the U.S reaching #4 in the Billboard 200.

Due to Bruce’s illness the band had to delay touring plans but promise to be out on the road again early next year, giving time for Bruce to make a full physical recovery to be ready for the rigours of Maiden live performances.

La portada y el título me masmolan mil.

Que sean tan largo me asusta, eso si... aunque dicen que las canciones tienen un rollo muy de "directo" y eso me hace pensar en temas mas al grano. Quizá sea una buena mezcla de temazos directos y canciones progresivas largas.
