"So yesterday was the big day. After not seeing Limp Bizkit play live for over 6 years it was finally time for Limp Bizkit. I've seen them in 2003 @ the Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam and in 2004 @ the Pepsi Music Stage in Amsterdam as well. Both times was with Mike Smith so I was still a little bit of a virgin, because I've never seen Wes in real life, although I've seen him last Monday during the open rehearsal... but y'all know that by now
I was present around 4 p.m. Fred walked (with 3 bodyguards) by us. Nobody saw him and I didn't wanted to be the crazy obsessed fan and just went really cool and waved at him, he quietly waved back and gave me a wink and walked trough.
The doors opened at 6.50 p.m. I brought my FLAG (also the armpit.net written on it) with me. Me and some other people held it over the barricade because it was 3 meters (!) wide. There was no support-act so the show started at 8.15 sharp. I personally like the fact that there isn't a support act and you role right in the show.
Show Me What You Got
Wes started playing the intro of "Show Me What You Got" for some time until Fred started saying "keepin' it real..." then John also started kicking in. The crowd was really intense so Fred could immediately feed himself of that energy. I have a HD movie of this performance, I will upload it tonight (I hope) or tomorrow. The very second SMWYG ended:
My Generation
Started pumping the venue. The crowd went NUTS! Fred looked in the crowd as they (and me) where getting crazy and smiled and joined the craziness. They pulled their classic prank with the audience during the bridge. The whole crowd sang the bridge ("Who gets the blame?") until the breakdown. Fred faked that he was going to explode on the "FLY!!" part but then they kept it down, which was still funny though... Also the very second MG ended:
Livin' It Up
Started. Really intense song. Although I wished they played Full Nelson instead, not complaining thoughAfter LIU there was a break, finally! Everyone was like "phew!" So was I, haha! Fred said, after the short break, that the next song was a song that we wouldn't expect from this line-up but they liked the song so they want to perform it for us. Then Wes started playing:
Almost Over
What can I say? I liked Mike Smith A LOT during his period with LB. BUT.... Wes owned Mike during the heavy parts! I literally was a little shocked how Wes ripped that piece of the song, much more intense than Mike played it, nice! During the slow parts of AO I yelled Wes' name and when he looked I pointed at the line I wrote down on the Flag ("The only country that lays shit on the tracks!") He started reading it and looked at me and laughed en nodded his head, yes! After AO Fred walked around the stage a little bit and said out of the blue: "What the fuck?! and walked over the barricade into the crowd. He walked through the audience and when he was in the centre, Wes started playing:
Eat You Alive
Really well performed. Fred screamed (along with Wes) al of the chorus' himself and did not let fans sing it, which is a big plus for me cause I like Fred's screams
My Way
Pff I forgot how heavy "My Way" was when it's played live! It got me by surprise when the heavy part kicked in haha, really well played. Fred said that in life there are some things that don't need language to make a point. That it goes through all language barriers etc. After a short break when Fred stopped talking, Wes kicked us into:
Break Stuff
Just INSANE. The crowd REALLY. WENT. NUTS. During the bridge Wes played his famous solo and kicked us into the last chorus. Fucking ace. Nothing more to add.
Nine Teen 90 Nine
Before 1999 kicked in I called Fred and pointed (again) to the flag. He saw the "LBF" on the flag and was like: "Haha! NICE!" He walked towards me, gave me a hand and walked away again. I liked the small detail that he gave me a hand and other people, who also tried to gave Fred a hand didn't got the chance HAHA.
The song was played awesome. Nothing more to add. After the song ended there was a small break before:
Re-Arranged
Kicked in. This was the perfect moment the chill down again. I must say that Fred's vocals are improved again, so it was really nice just to hear him sing
Take A Look Around
When TALA began Fred yelled that there was free beer for everyone! He added that it wasn't a concert anymore but a party. After TALA ended (which was played excellent) Fred said that he sees himself not as a singer but as an expressionist. Then:
Behind Blue Eyes
Kicked in. Everybody except Lee and Fred left the stage to take a break. Fred came and sat right in front of me just to chill out and sing BBE. Like I said earlier: Fred's vocals where good, they improved well.
Nookie
The minute BBE ended, Lee started messing with the drum loop of Nookie. The crowd went insane again and I got crushed againAfter Nookie ended Fred said that he loves all ladies and wished they where on stage with him... You know what happens next; All of the women rushed to the stage. At some point I felt two hands on my shoulders! Some stupid bitch tried to get on stage trough ME! I slammed my arm to the back and there where no more hands on my shoulders, so it worked. After the ladies where on the stage Wes brought us to:
Faith
What can I say? Played well as always. I also made a HD movie of this performance. After Faith Lee kicked in the Outro of Chocolate Starfish
Outro
During this outro the crowd shouted "We want more!". LB complied and gave us an encore:
Rollin'
I said before the show: "I hope they don't play "Rollin'", because I can't stand that song anymore!" But I'll be honest: the minute "Rollin'" kicked in, the crowd (and me) went nuts and sang along. After "Rollin'" Fred said he loved us and that Gold Cobra was coming out and they'll be back soon. Well the last part is true: September 6th they're playing in Amsterdam, guess who will be there as well....
Overall
Really REALLY nice gig! The crowd was super intense. No bad shit happened what so ever. Everybody was positive and the security didn't had to intervene. I personally liked the fact that Fred and I looked at each other multiple times while going nuts on the lyrics. And this is not me talking as an obsessed groupie who "imaginaries things that are not there", but I'm being honest and real. I also liked the interaction I had with Wes. The only thing that was bugging me was that Fred's mic was adjusted waaay to low. It drowned in Wes' riffs lol. I also catched John's drumstick and Lethal's (!) pick (lol).
Well that's it for me, now I just have to wait until September 6th"
