Angels & Airwaves - Chasing Shadows EP

Review:

I am not going to go into that big of a detail just basically my full opinion. I'll put it in one big paragraph so you can avoid it easier.
Teenagers and Ritual's is extremely weird and like I heard from other people that heard the album before me it tends to have this Coldplay- Paradise vibe. Tom's singing is really taking a life of it's own and it's extremely fresh. The song should not have been the album opener at all but all and all it was a weird fresh start to a AMAZING ALBUM. I actually had a quick cigarette for Paralyzed and Wolfpack and poured myself another stiff drink. Then came Tunnels. Great song, Tom shouldn't be singling out songs in my opinion as this song is the weakest besides the tracks we already heard (BITW, Paralyzed, Wolfpack). Chorus is extremely catchy and old AVA vibes. The verses we're very WDNTW, I know tom has always wanted to sound like U2 (his fav band) and in this case he hits the closest to the bullseye here. Kiss With A Spell was extremely poppy and had it's change ups from the demo clip. Weaker of the album but still damn good. Mercenaries was my favourite song by far. It has this Blink vibe to it, not so electric. At this point by the end of the song I looked at my buddy and asked him to replay just that one (he had shit to do, just helping me out cause he knows my obsession with anything Tom Delonge). It confirmed it, that replay made me fall in love with this record (I liked all 3 songs so far, just I feel Wolfpack was the better of the 3). BITW came on and I couldn't help but just want to skip it but listened to it never the less. The last song made me want to jump to the last 3. The Disease is dark. Power chords, really powerful chorus. Tremors is directly connected with it, and is easily the second best song on the album. SOO GOOD. Anomaly is a take on boxing day just like threads of said, Tom's voice gives me a reason to love him all over again. It's such an amazing song and a great way to top off the entire album. By the last song I was completely out of my mind as I wanted to drug my buddy and sit there all night with the album on repeat.
To sum it up better then I thought. Paralyzed, Kiss With a Spell and Bullet's in the Wind are my least favourite. Mind you they are all great songs, just after hearing Mercenaries, The Disease, and Tremors.... Nothing seems to compare.
Music usually grows on me but I can easily say I-Empire and Love Pt2 are the weaker AVA albums now that this one has emerged.

"Teenagers & Rituals"

Teenagers & Rituals has been described as a poppy song and been compared to Coldplay's "Paradise." The track has a thirty second piano intro. Critics don't seem to be huge fans of this song citing cheesy lyrics as offputting. Overall though, they seem to think it's a good song, but it should not be the first track on the album. There are no demos of this track.


"Tunnels"
Tunnels is a mid tempo that DeLonge seems to be crazy about. A clip of the chorus can be heard in the trailer for Poet Anderson: The Dream Walker. Clip 12 is Tunnels, but the song is no longer acoustic. The riff has also changed considerably considering critics can not place it in the song, but it is definitely Tunnels.


Kiss With A Spell"

Kiss With A Spell is a slower track. Some people are really into it and others are not. It is mostly electronic like The Wolfpack. Clip 16 is the chorus of the song. Clip 17 is the pre-chorus. Clip 18 is the verse.

"Mercenaries"

Mercenaries seems to be the most popular song so far. A real rock song that is guitar and bass driven. It is somewhat reminiscent of Blink, but at the same time apparently sounds the most like traditional AVA. Clip 3 is the verse. Clip 9 is the chorus. Ilan no longer has a lead on the pre-chorus.

"The Disease"

The Disease is another popular track among early listeners. It has been described as a bit darker in the verses, but the chorus seems to be a bit lighter. Clip 6 is the chorus.

"Tremors"

Tremors is closer to traditional AVA in the sense that the delay effect is back. I've been told that the bridge to this song is epic supposedly with an awesome riff from Ilan. Listeners seem to be into this song. There are no demos for this track.

"Anomaly"

Anomaly, the final track, is a true departure for AVA. It's acoustic. There's a harmonium and a couple electronic things here and there, but it is a traditional acoustic song. It's a love song. Another favorite among listeners. The songs been compared to What Went Wrong and Boxing Day mostly just because they are also acoustic songs. There are no demos for this track.

Bueno parece que la cancion a seguir sera "Tremors" la unica con delay estilo AVA.

Me esta llamando la atención lo que puede salir en este disco. No parece sonar tan repetitivo y parece tener el gancho que los anteriores no.

El disco va a ser lo mas diferente que han hecho.

Se acabo las intros EPICAS pero ganan en frescura.

Tunnels ya esta a la venta en australia itunes asi que en 1 hora o menos filtrada.

tunnels la escribio cuando se le murio el padre a tom, habla de ello en la cancion. Me encanta ese sonido tan melodico, en el coche va a sonar brutal, sonidos por todas las partes pero es que wolfpack me sigue enamorando y bullets es aire fresco que me ha encantado.
